The Ghana Statistical Association (GSA) on Wednesday, January 8, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newly elected executive team.
The elegant ceremony was held at Accra's Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) Census Secretariat Conference Hall.
The ceremony was a formal transition of leadership and a celebration of continued commitment to advancing the field of Statistics and Data Science in Ghana.

The Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Annim, graced the event.
He commended the outgoing executives for their dedication and hard work, which has significantly contributed to the association's success.
He indicated the GSS's preparedness to continue to collaborate with the association for the promotion and development of statistics/data science and the use of same.
Prof Annim encouraged the association to participate in initiatives that seek to influence relevant national policies.
The outgone executives, led by Prof N. N. N. Nsowah-Nuamah were commended for their dedication and leadership over the years.
Speaking at the ceremony, the outgone Vice President for the Southern Sector, Prof Ezekiel Nortey and the outgone General Secretary, Prof Bishop Albert Luguthera expressed their excitement in welcoming the new executives to the various positions.
They were happy to see the new executives bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the association.
They were hopeful that with the incoming president being part of the old executives, he would help the new executives with institutional memory to make informed decisions.
Prof Saeed I. Bashiru, the incoming president, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) on behalf of his team, thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and his team.
He assured all members present that the new team would work assiduously to raise the image of the association to another level.

He indicated that the newly inaugurated executives are poised to launch initiatives aimed at enhancing and promoting Statistics and Data Science as well as fostering partnerships both locally and internationally.
He called on all and sundry to extend their support to the new leadership and asked members to actively engage in the association’s activities to achieve the shared goals. He mentioned that, together, all can shape a brighter future for Statistics and Data Science in Ghana.
The newly sworn-in executives have Prof. Saeed Bashiru as the President with Rev. Prof. Francis Ayiah-Mensah and Prof. Gabriel Okyere as Vice Presidents for the Southern and Northern sectors respectively.
Other members are Carine Malor as the General Secretary with Francis Yaw Daah as her Deputy, Hannah Swanzy as Financial Secretary, Dr Enoch Mintah Ampaw as the Organising Secretary, Thomas Kwame Klu and Richard Berimah Twum completing the lists as elected Executive Members.
The new executives have two years mandate to steer the affairs of the association.
