A violent chieftaincy clash at Gomoa Obuasi in the Central Region has left six people injured.
The injured include the head of the Asona Royal Family, Agya Amoh.
According to reports, the conflict erupted when supporters of one faction attacked their rivals during a community meeting, leading to injuries and significant property damage.
Accra-based Channel One News indicates that the violence stems from tensions following the installation of Kwabena Atta as the caretaker chief by Obrempong Nyanful Krampah, Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, who has authority over Gomoa Obuasi.

The appointment followed the passing of the substantive chief.
However, the town’s Regent has refused to hand over leadership to the newly appointed caretaker chief, leading to repeated confrontations between rival factions.
Eyewitnesses described the chaos during the attack, with stones hurled into the palace around 9 to 10 a.m., damaging several roofs and two vehicles.

“We were waiting to have a meeting when stones started flying into the palace,” recounted Nana Mbir Asomako.
“They destroyed parts of the palace and vehicles. They even claimed they don’t fear the police and will continue to terrorize us. We heard they planned to burn the entire place, so we had to evacuate. The police have been informed.”
