The Ghana Publishing Company Limited launched a 24-hour service in alignment with President John Mahama's vision for a 24-hour economy in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch, the Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Nana Kwesi Boatey, stated that the company will increase its production capacity, enabling it to take on larger projects without delays.
He also added that the initiative will create more job opportunities.
"The introduction of the 24-hour service is in alignment with his excellency, the president's vision for a 24-Hour Economy in Ghana. By running this shift system, we will be able to enhance service delivery, ensuring that government agencies, business, and individuals that are bringing work to us receive their materials on time. We will also increase production capacity, enabling us to take on larger projects, without delays," he said on Monday, March 4.
The Acting MD also stated that the biggest challenge facing the company is the high taxation on the import of paper and other printing materials.
He went on to appeal to the government to consider removing import taxes on paper and other essential materials used in the printing industry.
"The company faces serious challenges, particularly regarding the high cost of production. Honorable Minister, we would wish for you to take note at this point, that the biggest burden that faces us is high taxation on the import of paper and other printing materials. And Minister, we wish to use this opportunity to appeal to you, through you to the government to consider offering some assumptions to the company. When it comes to the import of paper."
Speaking at the launch, the Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, pledged to champion and advocate for the company at the highest levels of government.
He also encouraged them to justify the Ghanaian taxpayers' money used to capitalize the company.
The Director of Operations Samuel Donkor finally assured that the 24-hour service would begin immediately.
