The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has taken a swipe at the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over his recent admission that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 general elections due to “the arrogance of power”.
According to him the party’s fall from power to what he described as “the arrogance of power” – a sentiment he claims the opposition and critics had been highlighting long before the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile on May 2, Mr Gyamfi noted, “He said they lost the elections because of arrogance of power. Look at the details of the reasons he gave, but in the long run you would see him clearly blaming others but himself,” referring to the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr Gyamfi appeared to welcome what he framed as a delayed realisation from the party’s leadership.
“Now he says they lost power because of arrogance of power – then that is what we’ve been telling them all this while,” he remarked.
However, the GoldBod CEO did not stop at acknowledging the shift in tone, he further accused Dr Bawumia of continuing in the same vein even in opposition.
“Now four months in opposition, Bawumia has repented – he now knows that they lost because of arrogance of power,” he said.
“Even in doing that, he is making more commentaries that are more arrogant than what sent them to opposition,” he continued.
