Ghanaian youngster Mohammed Sofo continued his impressive start to the 2025 MLS season with a goal for New York Red Bulls in the US Open Cup win over FC Dallas.
Sofo scored in the second half of regular time for his side before the game eventually went to penalties, with his side claiming victory.
The 20-year-old was handed his second start in the cup competition, having scored twice in the previous round against Switchbacks FC.
Dallas took the lead after 28 minutes played through Bernard Kamungo.
However, after the break, Sofo scored with what was his last touch in the game to draw his side leveled in the game.
The Ghanaian was then replaced by Emil Forsberg a minute after scoring.
Luciano Acosta restored the lead for Dallas but Forsberg scored in additional time to force the game into extra time.
No goals were recorded in extra time as the game ended 2-2.
The penalty shootout, however, favored New York Red Bulls as they scored four of their five kicks while Dallas missed two of theirs.
For Sofo, his goal against Dallas means he has been involved in five goals in nine appearances across all competitions.
