Ghanaian long-distance runner William Amponsah has captured the men’s 10,000m title at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, continuing his stellar collegiate career in the United States.
Representing West Texas A&M University, Amponsah clocked a time of 29:29.41 to win the national title—his second consecutive victory in the event.

The triumph marks his seventh NCAA Division II All-American honour, solidifying his reputation as one of Ghana’s most decorated student-athletes abroad.

Amponsah, who holds Ghana’s national record over 10,000m, delivered a commanding performance to retain his title and affirm his status as a rising force in distance running.
In the women’s 10,000m event, Naomi Addo also achieved All-American status after placing 8th with a time of 35:35.56.
The performances of both athletes reflect the continued presence and competitiveness of Ghanaian student-athletes in U.S. collegiate athletics.
