Faith Ladies, fresh off their first-ever Ghana Women’s FA Cup victory, paid a visit to betPawa on Monday, May 26, to present the trophy to the brand many in the football community have come to see as more than just a sponsor.
It was their way of saying thank you, and perhaps, of showing just how much it means when a brand not only puts money into the game but puts its weight behind the people playing it.
“This wasn’t something anyone asked them to do,” said a team liaison from the Ghana Football Association, who helped facilitate the visit. “They wanted to do it. They wanted to acknowledge the part betPawa has played in their journey.”
The Ghana Football Association’s sustained partnership with betPawa has helped lay the foundation for moments like this. Supporting structures, fostering consistency and ensuring that women’s football gets the investment and attention it truly deserves.
Throughout the FA Cup knockout rounds, betPawa played a game-changing role behind the scenes. As the official sponsor of the competition through its Locker Room Bonus initiative. They paid 400 cedis straight to each victorious team’s players, delivered instantly via mobile money. And for the champions,
Faith Ladies, their final win came with double the bonus, taking home 800 cedis each. But it wasn’t just about team success, betPawa also recognised standout talent on the pitch with individual awards, including a 3000 cedis prize for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and other top performers.
Faith Ladies earned their place in the spotlight in a tournament that’s getting more competitive by the year. In their path were giants, Hasaacas Ladies, a dominant force in Ghanaian women’s football, and Jonina Ladies, who had been on a ruthless run of form this season. But Faith Ladies dug deep. For a club that had never lifted the FA Cup before, this victory was a milestone.
Nii Armah Ashong Katai, betPawa’s Regional Manager Southern and West Africa CSR & Sports Development said, “betPawa is thrilled to be part of this momentous occasion. Supporting women’s football is the core values and celebrating Faith Ladies’ FA Cup victory alongside the Ghana Football Association is a privilege. We’re proud to help amplify their achievement and champion the growth of the game.”
