The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has called on the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM), Ghana, to lead the charge in enhancing efficiency and setting high professional standards across the public sector.
Speaking at the 2025 CIHRM Conference, the Minister emphasized the importance of strong institutional frameworks and the strategic role of HR professionals in driving public sector reform.
“The time has come for HR professionals to not only manage talent but also lead change. Ministries, departments, and agencies need your expertise to become more effective, accountable, and responsive to the needs of Ghanaians,” Iddrisu stated.
Held under the theme “Regulating HRM in Ghana: Standards, Ethics and Sustainability,” this year’s conference brought together HR practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to deliberate on the future of human resource management in the country.
CIHRM President, Florence Hutchful, echoed the Minister’s sentiments, calling for deeper collaboration between HR stakeholders to drive meaningful and lasting change.
“As an institute, we are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and strengthening our regulatory frameworks. But we cannot do this alone. Collaboration is key to ensuring sustainability and professionalism in our sector,” she said.
Participants at the conference also explored strategies to embed ethical practices, promote sustainable HRM approaches, and align public sector human resource policies with international best practices.
The 2025 CIHRM Conference marks another step forward in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to professionalize HR management and position it as a catalyst for national development.
