The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has praised the dedication and professionalism of Ghana’s armed forces after an 11-hour working tour of military installations within the 1 Garrison.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, included strategic stops at the Eastern Naval Command, Michel Camp, and the Army Recruits Training School (ARTS).
“We witnessed the unwavering commitment of our troops—from monitoring the marine ecosystem to neutralising explosive devices at Michel Camp,” Dr Boamah said in a Facebook post on Friday, July 18.
“Their discipline and sacrifice are the bedrock of our national security.”
At the ARTS, Dr Boamah assessed the military’s preparedness to recruit and train an additional 12,000 personnel, a move he described as vital for the future strength of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
He reaffirmed government’s resolve to ensure transparency in the process, stating, “Let me repeat: recruitment and enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale; and will not be for sale under my #EAGLEEYES watch.”
Dr Boamah also visited military medical facilities during the tour, identifying key challenges and promising swift interventions.
“We’re ensuring that our troops receive the best care possible. Their wellbeing is a top priority under President Mahama’s #ResettingGhana agenda,” he stated.
