The Assistant Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and distinguished alumnus of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, last Thursday.
Thomas Asare's visit formed part of the activities ahead of the official launch of UPSA’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, scheduled for Tuesday, August 12.
The year-long celebration is expected to bring together a host of alumni who will return to their alma mater to mark six decades of academic excellence and transformation.

Welcoming Mr Asare back to campus, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight at the growing interest among alumni in supporting the University’s anniversary activities.
“We are happy that some of you are coming on board to support the University as we prepare to celebrate this important milestone,” Prof. Mawutor said.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the critical role of alumni in the growth and advancement of the University, describing them as one of its most important stakeholders.

“We are also looking at restructuring the alumni association to make it more vibrant and effective in contributing to the future of UPSA,” he stated.
Mr Asare thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception and commended the University for the significant infrastructural developments and academic progress it has achieved over the years.

The 60th anniversary celebrations will feature a series of events, including public lectures, alumni homecoming activities, a health walk, a founder’s day durbar, and the launch of a legacy project to commemorate the milestone.
