First Lady Lordina Mahama broke down during the ongoing solemn flower-laying and candle-lighting ceremony held in honor of the departed in the helicopter crash.
Mrs. Mahama was visibly overwhelmed, with grief etched across her face as she paid respects to those being mourned.
She was consoled by her children, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Communication Minister Sam George, Joyce Bawa, among other close associates and government officials.
Yesterday, President John Mahama and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah were also emotional during Day 1 of the wreath-laying ceremony.
The three-day mourning will conclude on Saturday, August 9, with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” scheduled to take place at the Forecourt of the State House from 5:00 p.m.
This final event will bring together government officials, citizens, and members of the diplomatic community to celebrate the lives and contributions of the deceased.
Official tributes will also be delivered during the memorial gathering.
Among those remembered were the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi Mayor, Dr. Samuel Sarpong; and former Obuasi East parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye.
The rest were three personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
