The Asuogyaman District is taking steps to address its declining performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with the introduction of the Ampem EduCamp 2025, a new initiative launched by the area’s Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Ampem Nyarko.

The two-week camp, which ended at the Akosombo International School, brought together 400 of the district’s best JHS 2 students to receive intensive academic coaching.

According to the MP, the initiative was crafted in collaboration with the education directorate after realizing the persistent underperformance of students in the district.

Beyond the camp, Mr. Nyarko has also tackled educational infrastructure challenges by constructing and renovating school blocks across the district, a move the District Education Director, Augustina Adwoa Owusu, described as critical in creating a conducive learning environment.

She noted that infrastructure deficit, coupled with poor performance, remained major challenges confronting the education sector in Asuogyaman.

The MP reiterated his commitment to bridging these gaps, highlighting that the Educamp, mentorship sessions, and supply of over 2,000 exercise books, mathematical sets, and core subject textbooks are part of a larger strategy to equip students for future success.

“With these interventions, Asuogyaman can become a district that consistently produces some of the country’s best students,” Madam Owusu expressed confidently.
