The Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to parts of North-Eastern Accra following a fire outbreak at the Dodowa Booster Station.
In a statement released on Saturday, August 23, the utility company said the incident had forced management to shut down operations at the facility to allow for comprehensive repair works.
Engineers are currently on site “working tirelessly and around the clock” to restore the system to full operation.
The Dodowa Booster Station supplies several communities, and as a result of the shutdown, areas experiencing either low pressure or complete disruption include East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman, Dome, Adenta, Madina, Oyarifa and their surrounding areas.
Management expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and appealed to residents and institutions to remain patient as efforts are made to rectify the fault as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, GWL said arrangements were being made to guarantee continuous water supply to essential service providers, particularly schools and hospitals.
Institutions whose storage facilities run low have been advised to contact their Municipal Chief Executives, Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members or call the company’s dedicated helplines for assistance.
“We are grateful for the patience and understanding of our valued customers and stakeholders during this period,” the statement concluded.
