The campaign team of former Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has rejected the latest Global InfoAnalytics poll on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer contest, insisting that the party’s grassroots remain firmly behind their candidate.
Speaking on JoyNews on Friday, August 22, 2025, Dr. Adutwum’s spokesperson, Opoku Mensah, argued that the campaign’s internal polling presents a vastly different outcome from the Global InfoAnalytics findings.
The survey, released on August 22 and based on the views of 2,656 NPP delegates across 263 constituencies, placed Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the lead with 52%, followed by former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong with 17%. Dr. Adutwum, along with other aspirants, garnered less than 1%.
However, Mr. Mensah maintained that external polls fail to capture the former Education Minister’s true influence within the party.
“Our internal polls affirm what many already know: Dr. Adutwum is a formidable force in this race, with deep roots and a strong home advantage as the MP for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region. Delegates are yearning for a new dawn, and our internal polls confirm that hope lies in Dr. Adutwum,” he told host Kwame Okyere Jr.
He further asserted that any attempt to downplay Dr. Adutwum’s popularity “is dead on arrival,” adding that support for his candidacy is growing daily.
The NPP is expected to elect its flagbearer for the 2026 general election in January next year.
