Personnel from the Akropong Fire Station swiftly responded to a late-night accident at Adukrom Waterworks Junction in the Okere District of the Eastern Region, rescuing a driver from a mangled truck.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on August 22, 2025, and involved a KIA Mighty II truck with registration number GN 3931-18, which reportedly lost control due to clutch failure while descending the Adukrom-Somanya road.

In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the Akropong Fire Station received the emergency call at 11:19 p.m. and quickly dispatched a rescue team led by ASTNO Jerry Kugblenu.
Upon arrival, the crew managed to free the trapped driver, 47-year-old Ebenezer Nii Okai Gborbitey, who was subsequently handed over to the Akuapem North Ambulance Service for urgent medical attention.

The vehicle sustained severe damage, while about 50 bags of cement and other construction supplies were destroyed in the crash.
GNFS noted that the swift intervention of the Akropong Fire Station was critical in saving the driver’s life.
