Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has led 21 others to Chad for matchday seven of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Ghanaian contingent departed Kotoka International Airport in Accra at exactly 3:20 pm and touched down at the Hassan Djamous International Airport in N’Djamena at 6:30 pm local time, per the GFA.
The team was received by officials of the Ghana Embassy and local organisers before being transported to their hotel base.
The 22 players who made the trip are: Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Ibrahim Osman, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Jerry Afriyie, Joseph Anang, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Benjamin Asare, Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Sulemana, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Salis Samed, Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Kudus, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Derrick Kohn, Jerome Opoku, and Caleb Yirenkyi.
They are joined by the technical staff led by head coach Otto Addo, as well as members of the Black Stars Management Committee.
The match against Chad, scheduled for Thursday, September 4, is a pivotal fixture as Ghana aims to strengthen its chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Four days later, the Black Stars will return to Accra to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has already announced that the government has approved the team’s budget for both games, ensuring all essential needs such as travel, accommodation, medicals, and bonuses are catered for.
The approved package covers the team’s stay in Chad and their preparations for the home tie against Mali.
Otto Addo and his boys are expected to hold a final training on Wednesday.
The Black Stars, four-time World Cup participants lead Group I with 15 points, three points more than Comoros who will play Mali on Match day 7.
