Travel and tour agency Simba Holidays has partnered with the Greater Accra Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to mark this year’s World Tourism Day, observed under the theme: “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”
The celebration in Accra began with a tree-planting exercise, followed by a tour of the Accra Zoo.
Speaking to the media, Simba Holidays CEO Samson Afordofe said the partnership reflects the agency’s commitment to sustainable tourism and fostering strong relations with regulators.
“We are excited about this opportunity. Tourism must be sustained, and this is one practical way to demonstrate our commitment.
Today’s celebrations go beyond tree planting; it’s about reinforcing our principles of making travel an everyday activity while strengthening our alliance with the Ghana Tourism Authority,” Mr. Afordofe explained.
Mrs. Roberta Dawson Amoah, Greater Accra Regional Director of the GTA, emphasized the role of tourism in sustainable transformation, highlighting the need to protect Ghana’s natural resources.
She reminded participants to enjoy eco-tourism sites responsibly and preserve the environment for future generations.

“As part of today’s initiative, we avoided using plastic water bottles and donated a trash can to the Accra Zoo, demonstrating that the GTA cares about the environment,” she said, calling on all Ghanaians to act as responsible stewards of natural resources.
The celebration drew stakeholders from the tourism industry and students, reinforcing the agenda of promoting sustainable tourism in Ghana.
