The Chairman of StarOil, Torgbui Xornametor I, known in private life as Mr Vincent Kwamitse Kaledzi, has urged Ghanaian youth to seize emerging opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation to transform their lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He made the call during the commissioning of the first-ever ultra-modern Artificial Intelligence Smart Lab in the Volta and Oti Regions, located in Bleamezado, a community in the Anloga Municipality.
Torgbui Xornametor I expressed deep concern about the rising involvement of some young people in drug abuse, crime, and other social vices, describing the trend as a threat to the nation’s future. He said young people must channel their energy into learning and innovation instead of destructive behaviours.

“Artificial Intelligence has opened a new world of possibilities. Our youth must not be left behind. I urge every young person here to take advantage of this AI Smart Lab to learn, innovate, and improve their future,” he emphasised.

He revealed that the establishment of the AI Smart Lab was inspired by his commitment to youth empowerment and to honour the legacy of his late brother, Dr Leonard Yao Kaledzi, who founded the basic school in Bleamezado. The facility, he explained, was built in memory of Dr Kaledzi to continue his vision of promoting education and technological advancement in the community.
Bleamezado, one of the less-developed communities in the Anloga Municipality, now hosts a cutting-edge AI learning centre—an initiative made possible through the partnership between StarOil and Coral Reef Innovation Africa. The project aims to inspire innovation, improve digital literacy, and provide hands-on training in emerging technologies such as coding, robotics, and AI applications.

In a goodwill message, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr Francis Agbemadi, commended StarOil and Coral Reef Innovation Africa for their foresight and investment in human capital development, describing the project as a major boost for education and technology in the region.
“This is a great opportunity for the youth of Bleamezado and the entire Anloga Municipality. I urge students and young people to make good use of this facility, learn hard, and become agents of change in their communities,” Mr Agbemadi stated.

The commissioning of the StarOil AI Smart Lab marks a new milestone in the educational and technological landscape of the Volta Region. The facility is expected to serve not only Bleamezado but also neighbouring communities, bridging the digital divide and positioning the region to benefit from the global AI revolution.
Through this initiative, Torgbui Xornametor I reaffirmed his belief that education and technology are the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty and secure a better future for the next generation.
“Let us give our youth the tools to dream beyond their limitations. With knowledge and discipline, they can build the future we all desire,” he concluded.
