Ghana attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana says he has been waiting a long time to score his first goal for the Black Stars.
Ghana cruised past the Central African Republic with a 5-0 win at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès in Morocco, maintaining their three-point lead at the top of Group I.
Sulemana came off the bench in the second half to replace Fatawu Issahaku.
With just three minutes left on the clock, substitute Joseph Paintsil beat his marker with a burst of pace and squared the ball across for Kamaldeen to tap in his first-ever goal for the Black Stars.
“I have been waiting for this for so long,” he said.
“It has been six or more years, and this is my first goal. It means a lot to me. By God’s grace, more will come, and the marathon continues.
The Black Stars will return to Accra, where they will aim to seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a win against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
