A 51-year-old engineer has been nominated as the next paramount chief of Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region.
Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu was outdoored by the queen mother as the next in line to occupy the Silver Stool of Asante Kingdom.
He will succeed the late Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, after swearing oath of allegiance to the Golden Stool at the Manhyia Palace.
Mr. Leslie Osei-Bonsu, elder brother of Nana Agyakoma Difie, was introduced to the King Makers and Traditional Council at the Amaniampong Stool Palace at Mampong as the Mamponhene-elect.

Born into the Botase Bretuo Royal Family, he was among about 16 others nominated by the five royal families to ascend the stool.
Background
Mr. Osei Bonsu is a senior software architect and a geospatial strategist with over two decades of experience leading complex software initiatives across Africa and Europe.
He is currently serving as the Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany. His leadership spans project governance, infrastructure modernization, and cross-team coordination – driving alignment with evolving standards and regulatory framework.
Mr. Osei-Bonsu, born on March 14, 1974, spent his early life in Kumasi where he began his basic education at City of Kumasi Preparatory school and proceeded to Prempeh College for his secondary education.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in Geomatic engineering at the KNUST, he traveled to the Netherlands to obtain a master’s degree in Geo-information science and Earth observation.
He also holds a second master's degree in science computational science and engineering.
Stool name
Leslie Osei-Bonsu is currently known in the traditional setting as Barima Yaw Nkansa Dwamena.
Once his nomination is approved by the Asantehene, he will undertake customary rites to select his royal name from the ‘Black Room’ in Asante Mampong after which his coronation will follow to formally and traditionally outdoor him to the natives of Mampong.
Following his naming by the queenmother, he was met with a rousing cheer and jubilant crowd at the Mampong stool house.
