Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has expressed strong confidence in former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory on his second attempt.
Mr Korsah, speaking in support of Dr Bawumia’s bid ahead of the NPP presidential primaries in January, said choosing the former Vice President would be the best decision for the party because he is already well-known and has successfully passed the “test” that Ghanaians often put presidential hopefuls through before accepting them.
“Dr Bawumia has served the party so well. He also served diligently as Vice President and has already taken the first step towards the presidency. Now he needs to take the next step — and we all have to push him,” Mr Korsah said.

“As we all know, recent history in this country shows that if you want the presidency, you often have to try more than once before the people of Ghana will accept you,” he noted.
“Ghanaians want to test your humility, your patience, and your courage. Dr Bawumia has passed all these tests. So why should we set him aside and go for someone who hasn’t been tested and whom Ghanaians don’t know?” he asked.
Mr Korsah further argued that apart from former President John Dramani Mahama, no politician in Ghana is as well known as Dr Bawumia.
“Today, apart from Mahama, who is already well known because he has been President, no politician in Ghana is more popular than Dr Bawumia. Everywhere we go, people know him,” he said.
“We have already marketed him. If we bring in a new candidate, we’ll have to spend ten times more effort to introduce and promote that person than we would need to for Dr Bawumia,” the MP added.
Mr Korsah called on delegates in the two Techiman constituencies and across the Bono East Region to give Dr Bawumia a resounding victory in the upcoming primaries to “send a clear signal to all.”
