Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Techiman and the Bono East Region to ignore what he described as lies and propaganda by other aspirants aimed at discrediting former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking during Dr Bawumia’s campaign visit to Techiman on Saturday, the MP said the former Vice President’s committed service to the party, experience, impact in government, and strong personal values make him the most suitable candidate to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 elections.
Mr Korsah noted that despite Dr Bawumia’s widely acknowledged contributions and qualities, some individuals were still attempting to undermine him for political gain. He therefore cautioned delegates to pay no attention to such persons.
“They will come here, and they will tell you all sorts of things in an attempt to pull down Dr Bawumia,” the MP said.
“Ignore them, because Bawumia is the man best placed to lead the NPP to victory.”
He argued that Dr Bawumia’s popularity and track record make him the most marketable candidate for the party.

“Today, apart from Mahama, who is already well known because he has been President, no politician in Ghana is more popular than Dr Bawumia. Everywhere we go, people know him,” he said.
“We have already marketed him. If we bring in a new candidate, we’ll have to put in about ten times more effort to sell that person than we would need for Dr Bawumia.”
Mr Korsah added that choosing an untested candidate would amount to taking an unnecessary risk.
“If we want to experiment, then we can go back and pick an unknown person. But if we truly want to move forward, let’s stick with Bawumia for victory,” he urged.
The Techiman South MP further recalled Ghana’s recent political history under the Fourth Republic, noting that no candidate has won the presidency on their first attempt. He said this trend gives Dr Bawumia an advantage, having already made his first bid.
“With Bawumia having already tried once, 2028 will be his year of victory — because he has passed the test of humility and patience that Ghanaians always set for their leaders,” Mr Korsah said.
