The Ministry of Finance has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining budget credibility as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s fiscal management and promote economic stability.
Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, made this known at a stakeholder engagement meeting ahead of the presentation of the 2026 national budget in November.
He said the government remains focused on ensuring that future budgets are anchored on realistic revenue targets, disciplined expenditure, and transparent fiscal operations.
According to him, maintaining budget credibility is crucial for restoring public and investor confidence in government finances.
“We are determined to ensure that every cedi allocated in the budget corresponds with actual revenue performance and that we spend within our means. This is how we strengthen fiscal discipline and build credibility.”
Mr. Nyarko added that the ministry continues to engage stakeholders to ensure that budget planning and implementation remain inclusive and aligned with Ghana’s broader economic recovery goals.
The government is expected to present the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament in November, focusing on fiscal consolidation, job creation, and sustainable growth.
