The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has paid tribute to Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a strong supporter of the arts and Ghana’s cultural heritage.
MUSIGA noted that its relationship with the former First Lady was marked by warmth, guidance and a firm commitment to the creative sector. The Union highlighted her role in the planning of the tribute concert for former President Jerry John Rawlings in May 2021, saying her involvement helped ensure the success of the event.
According to the Union, Nana Konadu worked closely with MUSIGA to shape a ceremony that honoured the late former President while affirming the role of musicians in preserving the nation’s memory. Her partnership, MUSIGA said, reflected a belief that culture and service must work together to build a better future for the country.
MUSIGA also acknowledged Nana Konadu’s children Kimathi, Ezanetor, Amina and Yaa Asantewaa, expressing hope that they continue to be blessed with courage, vision and dedication.
Quoting MUSIGA President Bessa Simons, the statement added: “Art is the heartbeat that keeps a nation singing through its trials and triumphs.” It stated that Nana Konadu consistently encouraged the Union to allow that heartbeat to soar, to support artistes and to honour Ghana’s heritage.
The Union expressed gratitude to Nana Konadu for her leadership, solidarity and generosity, adding that her relationship with MUSIGA strengthens its resolve to promote Ghanaian music, protect the welfare of artistes and preserve the country’s cultural legacy.
