The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for questioning.
This comes after his public claim that he turned down a GH¢4 million bribe allegedly offered to halt the rollout of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.
Mr Kotey disclosed in a recent media interview that some powerful individuals attempted to influence him to abandon the digital plate initiative, which aims to curb vehicle-related fraud and improve road safety.
In a statement, the OSP confirmed it is seeking further details from the DVLA boss to verify his allegations and identify the individuals behind the purported bribery attempt.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the OSP has commenced investigations into a sitting member of the Council of State over alleged corruption and corruption-related offences linked to gold trading activities.
Sources familiar with the matter say the probe centres on claims that the Council member allegedly used his position to influence the granting of a gold licence to a company in which he reportedly has undisclosed business interests.
