Former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) boss, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has denied owning or being connected to any assets listed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in an ongoing GH¢280 million corruption case.

His lawyers, Hay & Partners at Law, said in a statement that he “neither owns, partly owns, controls, nor has any form of interest, connection, or linkage whatsoever to any of the assets published by the OSP.”

The OSP has charged Dr. Abdul-Hamid and nine others for allegedly siphoning over GH¢280 million from petroleum transporters and oil marketing companies between 2022 and 2024.

The OSP claims that about GH¢24 million was received directly by the former NPA CEO, while the rest was channelled through other companies.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid, who was granted GH¢2 million bail in July 2025, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

His legal team accused the OSP of engaging in “trial by publicity” and releasing information “deliberately crafted to create public confusion and unjustly associate our client with assets he has absolutely no connection to.”

 They challenged the OSP to identify the true owners of the said assets and “desist from the convenient practice of cloaking ambiguity” in the case.

The lawyers further urged the Special Prosecutor to act with “candour, restraint, and professionalism,” warning that continued media theatrics could “erode public confidence in an office that was once expected to rise above petty-politicking.”

They reiterated that none of the assets or businesses listed by the OSP “belong to, are owned by, or are in any way connected to Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid.”
