Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the government will prioritize investments in athlete welfare, sports infrastructure, and talent development ahead of major international competitions.
Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Dr. Ato Forson said the move forms part of the government’s renewed commitment to strengthening the sports sector and improving Ghana’s representation on the global stage.
“The government will invest in athlete welfare, sports infrastructure, and talent development in preparation for the FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and other tournaments,” he stated.
“The Anti-Doping Regulations will be finalised to enforce clean sports.”
He noted that these initiatives are aimed at creating an enabling environment for athletes to excel while promoting integrity and fair play across all sporting disciplines.
