The Founder of the Raissa Child Protection Initiative (TRCI), Raissa Sambou, has called for renewed commitment to protect every child from harm, saying the world cannot continue to look on while children suffer abuse, exploitation and poverty.
She made the call in a heartfelt message shared on her Facebook page to mark the International Day for the Child, adding, her voice to the global appeal to uphold the rights of every child.
She said children are not only the future but “the now,” and their voices, safety and happiness must be treated as urgent priorities.
According to her, no child deserves to live in fear or silence, and society has a responsibility to ensure children receive love, protection, good health and quality education.
Ms Sambou who is also the Ghana Country Chair for Child Protection, of the club G100, further urged the public to stand up against all forms of child abuse.
She appealed to everyone to speak out boldly against sexual violence, exploitation and neglect, stressing that “silence protects the abuser, not the child.”
She also encouraged families and community members to report anyone who harms a child.
She highlighted the link between poverty and child vulnerability, noting that many children fall into child labour, early marriage and exploitation because their families lack support. Empowering families, she said, is one of the strongest ways to protect children and help them thrive.
The TRCI Founder further called on national leaders to prioritise children by providing strong protection systems, quality education, accessible healthcare and equal opportunities for all.
She emphasised that childhood is a right, not a privilege, and urged the nation to build a society where children can laugh freely, learn confidently and dream boldly without fear.
She reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for vulnerable children, adding that “for every child, every right must be respected, protected and fulfilled.”
