The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has lauded NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a genuinely sincere and consistently principled politician.
Speaking during Dr Bawumia’s tour of the Akuapem North constituency on Friday, Awuku emphasised that the former Vice President’s conduct in both public and private life reflects unwavering integrity.
He contrasted this with individuals who become unusually approachable only when seeking political positions.
“There are people who suddenly become friendly when they need positions,” Awuku said. “But Dr Bawumia has never acted that way. His approach to people is natural, and he doesn’t pretend for political gain.”
Awuku, who has worked closely with Dr Bawumia over the years, argued that the former Vice President’s consistency provides delegates with a clear sense of his character and reliability.
He also highlighted ongoing internal party debates, noting that if someone of Dr. Bawumia’s experience can be labelled a ‘stranger,’ less experienced aspirants would face even more intense scrutiny.
He concluded by urging NPP delegates to recognise Dr. Bawumia’s steadfast record and principled leadership as they prepare for the party’s crucial flagbearer contest.
