New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Ken Ohene Agyapong, has marked this year’s National Farmers’ Day with a tribute to the country’s farmers and fisherfolk, positioning them as the lifeblood of Ghana’s food security and economic resilience.
In his post on social media on Friday, December 5, he underscored both gratitude and ambition, and praised the nation’s agricultural workforce for sustaining the country through unwavering commitment and daily sacrifice. He described their labour as the “backbone of our food security and a central pillar of our economy.”
Signalling a forward-looking agenda, he stressed that Ghana’s quest for a strong, stable and competitive future is inseparable from an agricultural transformation that empowers those at its heart.
He articulated a vision anchored on modern tools, fairer markets and expanded opportunity—an operational ecosystem designed to elevate productivity and deliver sustainable income for farming households.

“My commitment is to help build a sector where your hard work translates into higher productivity, better income and lasting progress for your families and communities,” he affirmed, presenting agriculture not merely as a sector of survival but as one capable of strategic renewal.
Mr Agyapong further assured farmers that Ghana’s next chapter in agricultural development would be crafted “with you and for you,” signalling a participatory approach intended to strengthen trust, unlock innovation and ensure shared prosperity.
