The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, has fulfilled a pledge made in 2025 by rewarding the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) valedictorian, Ms Jennifer Addae, with a brand-new Toyota Levin Hybrid and a cash prize of GH¢5,000.
The traditional ruler, who is also Chair of the UENR Council, made the promise on 13th December 2025 at the Bank of Ghana Auditorium, where he announced an initiative to recognise outstanding academic performance at the university.

Ms Addae, a Chemistry graduate who recorded an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.95, received the award in recognition of her exceptional academic achievement.
The presentation took place at a brief ceremony held at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) on the UENR campus in Sunyani.

Describing the award as a symbol of excellence, discipline and dedication, the Dormaahene said the initiative reflects the enduring legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, whom he praised for his commitment to education both as a lecturer and national leader.

He noted that Ms Addae’s achievement embodies the values of hard work, intellectual brilliance and leadership, urging students of UENR and young people across the country to remain focused on academic excellence.

“Diligence and commitment to education will always be recognised and rewarded,” he said.
The gesture has been widely welcomed by students and members of the university community, who have described it as a strong motivation for academic excellence and youth development.
