Andy Owusu, a respected Director in the UK Public Service and Social Protection Consultant, has officially declared his intention to contest the United Kingdom Branch Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His decision follows what party insiders describe as intense pressure and sustained calls from members within the rank and file urging him to step forward at what many consider a critical moment for the party.
Mr Owusu, a long-standing member of the NPP and a seasoned leader, was the runner-up in the keenly contested 2022 NPP UK chairmanship elections. Many party stalwarts and pundits have since maintained that he remains the ideal candidate to lead the branch, particularly as the party prepares tforthe 2028 general elections.

He formally confirmed his bid in a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, accompanied by a campaign flyer.
“It is official: In humility, I seek the support of my fellow patriots in the UK as the next Branch Chairman. I am committed to serving with integrity, passion, and vision. Together, we will strengthen our party, drive positive change and help our flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, win the 2028 elections. It will be an honour to lead and represent our shared vision and values. #TogetherWeCan,” he wrote.

His announcement has reportedly been met with enthusiasm and optimism among NPP members both in the UK and Ghana, many of whom see him as a unifying figure capable of galvanising the base and strengthening the party’s presence abroad.
Supporters believe his leadership experience, professional background in public service, and demonstrated commitment to party unity position him strongly to steer the NPP UK branch into the next electoral cycle.
