Indelibl Arts, in partnership with the Embassy of Ghana in the Czech Republic, has announced the launch of the maiden edition of Ghana Culture Week in Prague, marking a significant step in Ghana’s cultural diplomacy drive.
The initiative, unveiled in a press release dated February 25, is designed to showcase the richness and diversity of Ghanaian art and culture to international audiences.
It aligns with the cultural diplomacy policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which encourages Ghanaian missions abroad to collaborate with private and public actors to promote Ghanaian creativity globally.
Ghana Culture Week mirrors Accra Art Week, a platform that has, over the past six years, evolved into a living archive of Accra’s creative ecosystem.
For more than a decade, Indelibl Arts has worked to build visibility and sustainable platforms for Ghanaian artists across the world, and the new initiative represents what organisers describe as the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation.
Chief Executive Officer of Indelibl Arts, Edwin Otta, described the partnership as an important milestone.

“We are truly honoured to partner with the Ghana Embassy in the Czech Republic, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to take Ghanaian culture onto the global stage. After the remarkable momentum of the Year of Return, we believe it is time to take Ghanaian creativity on the road,” he said.
The week-long celebration, scheduled for March 6 to 10, will open with an Independence Day reception hosted by Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Theresa Adjei-Mensah, on March 6. Art exhibitions on March 8 and 10 will feature works by Ghanaian artists Yaw Tony and Dela Quarshie, with support from Sunseekers Travel & Tours.
One of the highlights of the programme is the screening of a 1970 short documentary by renowned filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo, an early cinematic call for the restitution of African artefacts housed in the British Museum. The theme remains relevant amid renewed global conversations on cultural heritage and restitution.
The programme will also feature films by winners of the 2025 Artention Short Film competition, an initiative by Société Générale Ghana Bank aimed at spotlighting emerging filmmakers. After premiering at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra, the selected films will now be screened internationally during the festival.

Ambassador Theresa Adjei-Mensah described Ghana Culture Week as more than a cultural showcase.
“Ghana Culture Week is a celebration of heritage and innovation. This initiative goes beyond a cultural showcase; it serves as a dynamic platform for amplifying Ghanaian artistic voices and fostering meaningful dialogue on the restitution of cultural heritage, while underscoring the strong diplomatic bonds between our two nations,” she said .
The event is being organised with the support of several institutions, including the Ghana National Film Authority, the Ghana Museums & Monuments Board, Charles University, and the Czech National Film Archive.
Organisers say the festival is expected to deepen cultural exchange between Ghana and the Czech Republic while positioning Ghanaian art, film and creative expression on a broader global stage.
