Four suspects have been arrested by the Fomena Police under the Ashanti South Regional Police Command in connection with a violent robbery attack on an okada rider on February 22, 2026.
In a statement issued by the police on Saturday, February 28, it said the victim reported to the Fomena Police Station with a machete wound on his left toe and informed the police that he was ambushed while returning from Old Ayaase after dropping off a passenger.
According to his account, about 10 tricycle riders barricaded a section of the road with their tricycles and other objects, blocking his path.
"The group attacked him, inflicted a machete wound on his leg, and made away with his unregistered Haojin motorbike valued at 15,000 cedis," part of the notice read.
Acting swiftly on the report, the police said they arrested Adom Peter, Abdul Zakari, Andy Benjamin, and one juvenile suspect within the Fomena township the same day to assist with investigations.
During the operation, officers retrieved the victim’s Haojin motorbike, one machete, one tricycle machine, and its ignition keys.
The Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and has urged residents to provide timely information to support crime prevention and law enforcement efforts.
