The Old Students Association of Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School has called on the Central Regional Police Command to retract its claim alleging that six Aggrey Memorial students assaulted a final-year student of Adisadel College.

The call follows a statement issued by the Central Regional Police Command on February 24 alleging that six students of Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School assaulted and robbed a final-year student of Adisadel College, Master Rexford Owusu Ansah.

The statement, which circulated widely on social media and news platforms, identified the suspects as students of Aggrey Memorial, a development the Association says has caused reputational harm and public backlash.

Addressing the media, the vice president of the association, Francis Boagye, rejected the claims contained in the police release.

“From our checks, none of these students mentioned in the police statement as circulated was directly involved in the assault and stealing from Master Rexford Owusu Ansah,” he stated.

He further revealed that the students’ accounts contradict the police version of events.

“All of the students have written their statements contrary to what was alleged. The police came out with a statement that was not reflective of what is actually happening on the ground,” he added.

According to the Association, the continued circulation of the statement has triggered public backlash and stigma against the students.

“These allegations against the minors are heavily impacting their mental health,” the vice president emphasised.

The Association is therefore urging the Police Command to issue a reviewed and clarified statement that accurately reflects the facts, stressing that the reputations and well-being of the students must be protected while investigations continue.
