The Corporate Affairs Officer in charge of External Affairs at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Godwin Mahama Ayaba, has disclosed that the company is currently undertaking major maintenance works to improve operations and efficiency.

According to him, the maintenance exercise covers several sections of the facility, including refurbishment works at the front view of the refinery. He explained that the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the operational efficiency of the plant.

“We are replacing a lot of existing facilities — the pipes, the pumps, and other equipment — because we need to upgrade the system to meet modern standards. All of this is happening concurrently,” he said.

“Management is doing everything possible to ensure the refinery reaches its optimum production period so that the people of Ghana can fully benefit from it. There is also construction ongoing to give the facility a new facelift, funded entirely from the company’s internally generated funds,” he added.

Mr Ayaba noted that the ongoing maintenance is critical to helping the refinery achieve its production target of 60, 000 barrels per day. He stressed that once the works are completed, TOR will be positioned to operate more efficiently and sustainably.
