For Huda Suglo Suleman, years of hard work paid off in grand style when Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd honoured her with a laptop and a cash prize of GH¢30,000 for emerging as the Overall Best Student for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
The recognition, conferred on Huda at the recently held WAEC distinction awards forms part of Zenith Bank’s ongoing effort to reward academic excellence and invest in the development of Ghana’s brightest young minds.
Through its partnership with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Zenith Bank continues to sponsor the Overall Best WASSCE Candidate category at the annual awards ceremony. The partnership reflects the Bank’s resolve to celebrate exceptional academic performance while inspiring students nationwide to strive for excellence.
At this year’s ceremony, the Bank presented the distinguished award winner, Huda Suglo Suleman from Legacy Girls’ College with a brand‑new laptop and a cash prize of GH¢30,000.00, maintaining its tradition of empowering high‑performing students with both financial and technological resources to support their academic journey.
Nurturing Academic Excellence
Representing the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Henry Onwuzurigbo, James Wiafe Akenten, Divisional Head of Marketing, reiterated the Bank’s commitment to championing excellence among Ghana’s youth.
He emphasised that investing in outstanding students is a strategic step towards contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s sustainable growth and building a strong human capital base capable of driving Ghana’s economy.
Uphold standards
The Head of the WAEC National Office, Dr. Rosemond Wilson, underscored the importance of students understanding that true success must be earned through diligence, not dishonest means.
She called on all stakeholders to support the Council in upholding its standards and fostering a sense of responsibility among learners. She further urged the awardees to serve as ambassadors for integrity by promoting the value of passing examinations without compromising standards.
The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak noted that the distinction awards demonstrated that excellence is achievable when talent is matched with hard work and discipline.
“These students have set an example for learners in Ghana and beyond, proving that with determination, greatness is within reach,” he said. He also acknowledged the vital contributions of teachers, educators and school authorities in shaping the achievements of the students.
