Joy News is set to air a special edition of its flagship economics programme Beyond the Numbers, today, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, as the Bank of Ghana's Monetary Policy Committee prepares to announce its latest policy rate decision.
The special coverage, scheduled for 1:00 PM, will bring together four analysts, George Wiafe, Isaac Kofi Agyei, Winston Tackie, and Caleb Ziblim, to dissect what the central bank decides and what it means for Ghanaians still grappling with high borrowing costs and rising fuel prices.
The policy rate is the benchmark interest rate that the Bank of Ghana uses to steer inflation, influence commercial lending rates, and signal the direction of the broader economy.
The MPC has been on an easing cycle since mid-2025, cutting the rate from 28 per cent to its current level of 15.5 per cent, a cumulative reduction of 1,250 basis points.
With headline inflation now below the central bank's target band, pressure is mounting on the committee to cut further. Business groups have called for reductions of up to 300 basis points at this sitting.
The Beyond the Numbers panel will unpack those tensions live, making today's 1:00 PM broadcast a must-watch for anyone tracking Ghana's economic trajectory.
The programme airs on Joy News, available on GOtv Channel 125 and DStv Channel 421, and can also be streamed online via the network's digital platforms.
