The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly has begun reshaping the Klo Agogo–Brukum–Nsutapong Feeder Road to improve transportation, ease movement, and facilitate economic activities across farming communities in the municipality

The project covers this major stretch linking several rural communities to market centres. It is expected to cut travel time, reduce vehicle maintenance costs and make commuting safer for traders, transport operators and other road users in the Eastern Region.

Residents have long raised concerns over the poor condition of the road, which becomes nearly impassable during the rainy season, restricting access to health facilities, slowing commerce and disrupting daily activities.

During an inspection of the ongoing works, Mr Francis Addo Akumatey, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the intervention aligns with the Assembly’s broader infrastructure improvement agenda aimed at accelerating local development.

“Accessible roads are critical to unlocking the economic potential of rural communities, especially for farmers who rely on reliable transport to bring produce to markets on time,” he said.

Communities along the Klo Agogo–Brukum–Nsutapong stretch welcomed the project, describing it as timely after years of road‑related challenges affecting school attendance, healthcare access and business operations.

Many of them expressed optimism that the improved route will boost trade, enhance mobility and stimulate local growth.

Mr. Akumatey added that the NDC Government would also prioritise reconstruction of the Huhunya–Sikabeng–Ehiamankyene Road and the Samlesi–Tafo road to enhance the movement of farm produce and expand economic opportunities.

Mr Tetteh Ebenzee, a driver who plies the Klo Agogo–Ehiamankyene route, praised the Assembly for addressing their long‑standing concerns, noting that the previous road conditions led to frequent vehicle breakdowns and higher operating costs.

He said the improved road condition would ease emergency transport, especially for pregnant women, and attract more transport services to the corridor.

The Klo Agogo–Brukum–Nsutapong road works are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, offering safer, faster and more reliable travel across the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
