The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has formally requested information from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) concerning its new Customs Artificial Intelligence (AI) system.
In a letter dated March 30 and addressed to the Information Officer at GRA, Mr. Baafi cites a recent Daily Graphic publication reporting that the AI system is generating millions of Ghana cedis daily, with revenues expected to rise further upon full implementation.
The MP is seeking detailed answers to nine questions, including "Which company or companies the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) engaged to operate or manage the Customs AI system?” and “By what process or procedure were the said company(ies) selected?”
He also asks, “When was the company(ies) selected?" "Who are the directors of Truedare?" "and 'The contract value or financial terms of the engagement.'"

Additionally, Mr. Baafi requests “A copy of the contract signed between GRA and the said company(ies),” along with revenue figures: “How much revenue has been generated since the implementation of the policy?” “How much revenue was generated 2 weeks before the implementation of the policy?"," and “How much revenue was generated previously using the ICUMS system within the period of March 12 to March 30?”
The request is made under the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability regarding government technology projects.
