Government is set to roll out Ghana’s national Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy on April 24, aimed at driving innovation and accelerating digital transformation across key sectors of the economy.
Speaking at a National Validation Workshop in partnership with UNESCO, the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, said, “Ghana’s national AI strategy has recently received Cabinet approval and will be launched on the 24th of April.”
As part of the strategy rollout, Cabinet has approved a $250 million investment for a new AI centre to support local research and innovation.
“I got Cabinet approval for the Government of Ghana to put up an AI centre, $250 million worth of investment,” the minister stated.
He also emphasised that the strategy will drive artificial intelligence adoption across sectors, improve services, and create opportunities for local innovation.
“AI will advance public service delivery, help farmers boost their productivity, assist medical professionals, and increase financial inclusion,” he added.
The national AI strategy is expected to position Ghana as a key player in AI development in Africa while ensuring that technology benefits all citizens responsibly.
