An autopsy report on British woman, Charmain Speirs, who was allegedly murdered by her Ghanaian-pastor husband has revealed she died of acute heroin poisoning.

Leader of the UK-based Global Light Revival Ministry, Pastor Eric Isaiah Adusah, was charged with the murder of his British wife, who was found dead in a bathtub with blood oozing from her nose at the Mac Dic Royal Hotel in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.

This was three days after her husband – the pastor, with whom she was on vacation in Ghana left for the UK.

From the Magistrates' Court where Joy News’ Joseph Opoku reported, the Police accused the pastor of causing the death of his wife.

They said he lied when he left the deceased in the hotel room and told a receptionist not to disturb her because she was fasting and praying, only for management to break in three days later to find that she was dead.

The Police said investigations have been concluded and the docket has been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Department for advice.

Lawyer for the accused, Adumako Acheampong, applied for bail for the pastor. 

The lawyer quoted Article 14 (4) of the constitution to move for bail for his client saying that he believes the AG’s department might delay trial but the Magistrate refused the application.

Ms Marian Affoh insisted that the accused stays in custody because he has only been held for two weeks. She rejected suggestions by the lawyer that the trial will be delayed.

She, however, advised him to seek redress at the Human Rights Court if he believed that he had a strong case

 Mr Acheampong said he will file an appeal at the Human Rights Court by next week.

He said he was disappointed in the ruling of the Magistrates' court.

He said he believes that the deceased died due to an overdose of heroin – which she and her entire family are addicted to.
