National Security is investigating a case of impersonation and fraud involving the use of the Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah Buah’s name.
It has emerged the fictitious Facebook account has been set up by some unknown person in the name of the minister with the sole aim of extorting monies from the public with the promise to offer them jobs and contracts.
The account has the name of the Petroleum Minister in full, "Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah", with a profile picture of him wearing a Kente cloth.
It also has a background showing some fuel tanks packed on a rail, which does not appear to be from Ghana.
However, the Ministry has issued a statement to dismiss the account.
The statement said the account does not belong to the Petroleum Minister and that it has been set up by some unscrupulous persons.
The statement signed by the Head of Communications at the Ministry, Edward Bawa, further said the Minister has no Facebook account and does not conduct business on social media.
It has warned that persons who fall victim to the scam by paying money with the expectation of getting jobs or contracts from him do so at their own risk.
