Joy News investigations have uncovered a syndicate fraudulently leaking examination questions in the ongoing 2015 West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to individuals and some top schools, and taking huge sums of money for it.

The syndicate, allegedly made up of teachers and a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) official who works in its printing room leaks the questions 14 hours before the exam time.

Joy News' investigative reporter, Kwetey Nartey who posed as a school proprietor got in touch with a member of the syndicate, Edmund a tutor in one of the Senior High Schools.

In his attempt to prove just how credible the syndicate is and how effective their leaks have been thus far, Edmund said:

"The thing [leak] is true as you were told. That's what we did. Some questions were solved before we gave it to them [schools]," he told Nartey on their first meeting.

The syndicate has allegedly been leaking the questions over the last three years.

A member of the syndicate is even accusing some schools of defaulting in the payment for the leaked questions.

"Last year we gave a school all the questions now [that] we finished the paper, [calls to] give us the money and is now a problem," the accomplice said.

Each leaked paper goes for 1,500 cedis, Nartey reported, and the syndicate has a number of high profile schools and individuals they deal with.

According to Kwetey Nartey, the leaking strategy for this year's WASSCE exams was disclosed to him some two months ago.

"We have been finding solution to how to get the paper and we are finding solution to make sure that paper is delivered at the right [time]," Edmund said.

Since this year's examination began, the syndicate has been receiving scanned papers and leaked questions from an official from the WAEC printing room.

The leaked questions are then duplicated and sent to schools and individuals who are ready to do business.

The police have been alerted and have begun investigations into the activities of the syndicate.
