The Ajumako township in the Central Region has been thrown into a state of shock after a 13-year-old boy shot and killed two children with his father’s gun yesterday.
It is unclear what may have led to the shooting but the police have arrested the boy and his father, Kwesi Adu, as investigations continue.
Ajumako Police Commander Chief Superintendent Prosper Ahlijah tells Joy News the boy used his father’s hunting gun to commit the act.
He said the boy’s father had left for the farm when the incident happened. The victims were rushed to the Ajumako District Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival, he added.
The deceased are Patrick Okyere and Andrews, both were 10 years old.
The gun was registered, Chief Supt. Ahlijah confirmed but whether the renewal of its license is up-to-date is another subject of investigation, he said.
The bodies have been sent to the Central Regional Hospital pending autopsy.
