Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has admonished the newly installed Paramount Chief of the Bolgatanga Traditional Area, Naba Raymond Alafia Abilba, to serve his subjects with humility and respect.
The newly installed Chief succeeded his father, Naba Martin Adongo, the third, who died on September 26, 2013. Until his installation, the new Chief, was the Regent of the area.
Otumfuo made the admonishment through the leader of a delegation of Chiefs and linguists from the Asanteman Kingdom, led by Baffour Asabere Kogynoasu Ababio the third, Otumfo Nsu-mankwahene to the installation ceremony, held on Friday, in Bolgatanga.
“You must endeavour to accord respect to everybody, irrespective of one’s social status, even your servants. Through this, you can win their support to run the traditional area smoothly”, he stressed.
Whilst calling on him to be steadfast in his administration, Otumfuo urged him to work hard to bring oneness to the area to help speed up development.
He impressed upon him not to pay attention to his subjects alone, but to also consider settlers and stressed that no any area can develop properly without settlers.
Otumfuo impressed upon the elders, linguists and all people from the traditional area, including settlers, to show maximum support to the Chief and wished him good health and long reign.
Prior to his installation, a request prayer was said to God and the ancestors for their blessings. He was conducted around the” Royal Tree and Royal Stone” as tradition and customs demanded.
The event attracted a large crowd, including sub chiefs and linguists from the tradition area. There was also heavy security presence to help maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, the Bolgatanga High Court has placed an injunction restraining one Mr Joseph Apakre of the Atulba Tia clan of Atulibabisi from holding a public event on Saturday to also outdoor himself as the Paramount Chief of the Bolgatanga Traditional Area.
This followed a motion filed by the Regional Police Command. The motion indicated that, the Police had gathered intelligence reports that Mr Apakre, who claims to have title to the Bolgatanga Skin was to be outdoored as the Paramount Chief of the area without notifying the police, which was a breach of the Public Order Act.
Mr Apakre was on Wednesday enskined by the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayire Naa Bohugu Mahami and had planned to organise his installation ceremony on Saturday in Bolgatanga.
