A Magistrate's Court in Accra has declined a bail application from Lawyers of Ghanaian pastor accused of murdering his pregnant British wife.
The court, presided over by Marian Affoh, said it has no jurisdiction to rule on the application.
Eric Isaiah Adusah, leader of the Global Light Revival Ministries Church, Tottenham, is accused of murdering his wife, Charmain Spiers Adusa in a hotel in Koforidua in March.
The body of Charmain, 41, was found by a hotel staff in a bath, where it is believed she had been lying for four days.
Isiaiah Adusah was believed to be in the same hotel room with the wife but checked out with the directive that his pregnant wife was not to be disturbed until she was ready to check out.
On the day of the checkout nothing was heard from her prompting the hotel staff to open the hotel room with a spare key only to find the deceased in the bath tub.
The hotel staff suspect the deceased may have died days earlier and insist nobody entered the room after Mr Adusah checked out of the same room with the no-disturbance directive.
Mr Adusah was later arrested and charged with murder.
When the court convened in April, the prosecution led by Detective Inspector Agbemehia, among other things said they were waiting for the advice from the Attorney-General to proceed with the case.
According to Joy News' Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah, the A-G still believes the accused has something to do with the crime but the prosecution has yet to finish with its investigation and would not resist any attempt by the defence to seek bail for the suspect.
The defence applied for bail but the Magistrate refused the application.
Lawyers for the accused have since proceeded to the Human Rights division of the High Court to apply for bail for the suspect.
According Afreh-Nuamah, the suspect, Mr Adusah came to court in the company of colleague pastors and family members who were eager to see him granted bail but left the court disappointed.
