Weeds have taken over the Eastern Regional ICT Center commissioned by Communications Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah about two years ago.
The ICT center which is located behind the Eastern Regional Library, adjacent the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council at Koforidua has turned breeding grounds for snakes, goats, sheep and other mammals.
The multipurpose Information Communication Technology Center which was supposed to have been used to train the youth in ICT among others was commissioned without basic infrastructure like desks and computers.
The Minister indicated at the commissioning of the center that, it will be linked to the business processing outsourcing center located at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange.
It was also among other things to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas and further support economic activities in rural communities.

The Minister had told journalists his outfit was going to furnish the center with computers, connect to a high grade internet facility but the promise has never seen the light of day.
The irony of the story is that, the facility has not been officially handed over to any agency in the region to manage.
Adom FM’s Maxwell Kudekor checks at the New Juaben Municipal Assembly and the Regional Coordinating Council indicate that, they don’t know which agency is responsible for the ICT center.
Now what was thought to be a savior has been rendered useless and covered with weeds.
