The Electoral Commission (EC) has begun registration for eligible voters.
The exercise is taking place at all district offices of the Commission throughout the country, a statement from the EC has said.
The exercise is in accordance with Regulation 9 (1) of the Public Elections Regulations 2012, (C.I 72).
It is opened to Ghanaian citizens who have turned 18 years recently and those who are above 18 years but could not register in previous registration exercises, it said.
Applicants will have to show one of the following at the registration centres:
- A Ghanaian Passport
- A driver’s license
- National Identification Card, and
- An old voter ID Card.
However, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards will not be accepted as an identification document, it said.
"Applicants who do not have any of the documents listed above will be required to execute a voter Registration Identification Guarantee Form at the point of registration. The form shall be witnessed by two persons who are already registered as voters. Applicants who do not have any of the aforementioned identification documents should get the two guarantors before they get to the district office."
