After British-American actor and model Sam Sarpong died of an apparent suicide in October, his body is being laid to rest today (November 21). His friends, family and fans can all say goodbye at the public funeral, which is being held at Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, California.
The Yo Mamma co-host's family gave a statement to E! News to thank the public for their continued support: "We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to each and every one of you who have reached out to us during this incredibly difficult time," it reads. "Our hearts are broken, and we are struggling to come to terms with the untimely passing of our dear Sam. Your words of encouragement, prayers, and shared memories of Sam have been comforing for us, and we cannot thank you enough."
After the funeral today, there will be a gathering at Burial Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Sam, who was a part of the BET family, died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, California. It is reported that he spent seven hours talking to the police before jumping.
